Greetings Local Trout Bums:
Please join us Monday February 13th from 6 to 8 PM at the Truckee Donner Public Utility District Board room. Dave Lass, TU Northern California Field Director and treasurer for the Truckee River Trout Unlimited Chapter will be presenting an update on our chapter’s work on the Little Truckee River Fish Habitat Improvement Project, which kicked off last summer.
Here is why we think it is important that you attend: Over the past year, Truckee River TU members along with local volunteers, collected critical data along the Little Truckee River (below Stampede Reservoir) that gave Balance Hydrologics, Inc. the information they needed to produce a conceptual restoration design for in-stream habitat improvements. Most anglers who fish the now famous Little Truckee River know that the lower meadow holds fewer adult fish than the upper section, directly below Stampede Dam. Trout Unlimited feels that this conceptual restoration design to enhance habitat in the lower meadow is the first important step to change this. TU will present the restoration concept and take public comment so that ideas, concerns or overlooked opportunities are incorporated in the final restoration design.
We are encouraging all TU members and local fisherman to attend to learn more about this project and provide local insight and thoughts on the design and implementation processes.
The Truckee Donner Public Utility District is located at 11570 Donner Pass Road, Truckee, Ca, 96160. Directions: http://www.tdpud.org/pdf/PUD_DIRECTION_MAP.pdf
Hope to see you there!
